This is the information I have found so far Samuel J Sutherland. It took awhile to find it through internet searches. Thank God for Google! Samuel J. Sutherland is my 5th Great grandfather. Are you are wondering how this relation exists? It's very simple.. my 3rd great grandfather is David "Blue" Cornett who married Phebe "Feby" Sutherland, who were married on February 22, 1826! Good luck to those of you who are searching these lines. It is becoming more difficult as we go back in time; the names are very similar to other ancestors, and it seems that some names were very popular as they went down the line. I don't have any proof, but I would guess that Samuel James' son, Alexander A. Sutherland may very well have been named Alexander Albert Sutherland, based on common names in this family (Albert James, son Samuel James...). Food for thought!
